We have the power to make a change and be the best that we can be

Hello Class 2 and all of your families!  I hope you are all well.  I do hope you have had a wonderful Easter break and made the most of the lovely, warm, sunny weather.  How lucky we have been!

This week, I will again start to upload daily activities.  Usually, this will be a Maths activity, an English activity and a topic based activity.  As it is the start of a new term, we will begin to focus on a brand new topic.  This term our learning will be based on Egyptian Treasures.  We will also complete a mini topic on Rocks and Soils.

For the first two days of this week, I will upload Maths and English activities but your topic work for Monday and Tuesday is to focus on Mrs Machell's Get Creative Challenge.  You can find the link at the top of this page.

Please remember that all of the activities that we are sending are only suggestions.  You can complete as much or as little as is right for you.  You can choose to challenge yourself, adapt the activities to suit you, have a break and come back to it, or just leave it.

I will look forward to seeing your Wonderful World work.  You can see mine by clicking the link at the top of this page.  I thought, once we return to school, we could perhaps learn the song that I have added a link to.

I am so impressed with the start you have made to your Summer Term learning!  I love seeing what you have produced so I have uploaded some of your work below.  I will add more as they come in and over the coming weeks.

Friday 24th April 2020

Wow! We have reached the end of another week of home learning already! I hope you have all managed to get settled back into a routine and that you've enjoyed your tasks for this week. Thank you for sending in all of your amazing and creative Wonderful World work.  I have loved looking at every single one and I know that the other teachers have too.  It's lovely to see what you have all been doing and great to see your photographs.  I have also learned some really fascinating facts which I shall remember every time I am out walking in our beautiful surroundings.

Below are your learning activities for Friday.  Please don't worry if you don't complete them all.  Just do your best and remember, there are lots of brilliant suggestions for alternative things to do on all of the main class pages.

Have a lovely weekend with your families and I will be back on Monday for a new week of learning.

Thursday 23rd April 2020

Hello everyone! Here are your activities for Thursday.  For Maths, I have posted a photo of a page from Target Your Maths.  Choose either Year 3 or Year 4, depending on what you would usually work on at school, then choose your level of challenge...A, B or C.  A is the easiest, and C is the most challenging.  I have also uploaded a picture of the answers for each of these activities so that you can check and mark your work.

The Topic work will be spread over the next few days.  I have given you an outline of what we will do when and what the end product will be but I will update this as we go along.  Please make this as easy or as difficult as you feel most comfortable with - as I have said before, it's just a suggested activity so if you are finding it too difficult to manage or if you want to adapt it, please do so.  I will look forward to seeing some finished results.

8.30 am.....last minute edit....!!!  I have had another restless night worrying that the Weather Report might be too much to complete by the end of the week so let's make this for Monday.  This will give us tomorrow and Friday to plan and edit it and then we can get it written up in neat or recorded or whatever you have chosen to do on Monday.   This will make sense once you have read the Egypt Topic instructions and as the week comes to an end. I hope this makes your work more manageable.  If you had already planned to complete this by Friday, you could always have a go at the extension on the Reading activity or be practising your reading, spellings and times tables in the meantime.  Enjoy your day....!

Hopefully you are all beginning to get back into a routine with your home learning whilst still making time to go outside in the garden or to take part in your daily exercise.  The Wonderful World work that is coming in is fantastic. It is lovely to see the different things that you have chosen to focus on.

Below are your learning activities for Wednesday. For Maths, I have uploaded some work from White Rose, which is the Maths scheme that we follow in school.  These could be really good lessons to help us to move on with our learning as well as practising key skills which we have already covered in the classroom.  The video clips should help us by introducing new learning as they will cover the things that I would teach if we were still in school.  Please let me know what you think and how you get on.

Just a reminder - the activities that we are sending are only suggestions.  I have tried to include extensions where possible for those of you who would like to do a bit more but it is ok to adapt the activities to suit you or even to leave them if that is best for you for that day.  Please don't worry if there is something you don't understand or if you don't complete everything.  We are all just trying our best and that is all we ask you to do!

Tuesday 21st April 2020

I hope you have all had a successful day back to your home learning.  Mrs Machell has been sharing with me all of the wonderful work you are doing - not only linked to the activities that are being suggested by us at school but also that you are choosing and adapting at home.  It's fantastic to see how creative you all are! Keep checking our main class page to see what everyone has been up to.

It's particularly amazing to see how different everyone's 'Wonderful World' challenges are...it just goes to show how many things there are to notice and love about our environment!

Tuesday's reading follows on from Monday's.  I hope you enjoyed the story and investigating what morals are.

I have uploaded some Testbase Arithmetic tests for Tuesday.  You can choose which one you feel most comfortable to do.  You should all be familiar with the layout of these as we have completed similar ones in the classroom.  Please don't worry if there are some questions that you are not sure about or that you find tricky - either leave them and come back to them or just miss them out.  When you have finished, you will find the answers at the bottom of the document.  Remember, some answers could be worth more than one mark.

Don't forget to read as often as possible and to keep practising your Times Tables.
