Summer Term Week 1

Our Wonderful World: Mrs Machell's Get Creative Challenge

Click here for Miss Halsey's Wonderful World

Hi Class 1,

I hope you have had a lovely Easter, enjoyed the weather - and hopefully some Easter eggs too!  It has been lovely to see what you have been up to. Now Easter is over, I hope you are ready to continue with your home learning again. I will be uploading suggested activities each day for you. I look forward to seeing and hearing what you get up to in the Summer term, whether it is activities we have set or exciting things you have seen/done or challenges you have set yourself.  I hope to see you all soon.

Miss Halsey

Take a look at what Class 1 have been up to over Easter:

Friday

Well, we have come to the end of another week of home learning and  I have received some more great work and photos from you again today, thank you!  I am loving seeing and hearing about what you have been up to!  Here is your work for today...  Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to joining you for another week of home learning next week.

Y6

In your ‘10 for 10 booklets’, complete day eight of reading, arithmetic, reasoning and GPaS.

Remember today is the final day you can access the maths quizzes, so if you want some additional maths work today, then see how many of the maths quizzes you can complete before they are gone!  I can't believe how many some of you have completed already - you are doing a great job and it is lovely to see how well you are getting on with the different area of maths.

Writing:

In your jotters, edit the short story you created yesterday, making sure you have included the features from the Year 6 writing success criteria, particularly those which you gave yourself as a target on the last piece of pobble writing you did for home learning.

Topic:

Continue with your ‘Settlers and Settlements Project’.   Remember you can choose how much of this you would like to do today, as you have two weeks to complete it.

Y5

Maths:

Today for maths you are going to need to use your knowledge of multiplication facts, multiplying and dividing by 10/100/1000 that we have been looking at over the last couple of days and the equivalent units of measure work, which we looked at last time we were together in the classroom.  Remember 1cm = 10mm, 100cm = 1m, 1000g = 1 kg, 1000ml = 1l.  Choose and complete A, B or C of the ‘Measure – Multiplying and Dividing’ sheet, uploaded below, in your maths book.  Remember the short date and the title: Measures – Mental Multiplication and Division

I have given an example below from each column to get you started:

A 1) 50 cm x 8 =  ? m

        5 x 8 = 40

        so 50cm x 8 = 400cm

        100 cm = 1m   so     400cm = 4m

B 1) 90g x 40 = ? kg

        9 x 4 = 36

       so 90g x 40 = 3600g

       1000g = 1kg  so    3600g  = 3.6 kg

C 1) 150g x 12 = ? kg

         15 x 12 = 180

         so 150g x 12 = 1800g

         1000g = 1kg   so     1800g = 1.8kg

You do not need to write all these steps down unless you want to.  These examples are just to help you with your thinking about the question.

Remember today is the final day you can access the maths quizzes, so if you want some additional maths work today, then see if you can compete the three quizzes, if you haven't already done so, before they are gone!  I can't believe some of you have completed them all, already - you are doing a great job and it is lovely to see how well you are getting on with the different area of maths.

Reading:

Read chapter 9 of ‘Good Night Mr Tom’. While reading and by scanning back over what you have read so far, complete the ‘Stop Thief’ sheet uploaded below, by recording your answers in your English book. Remember the long date and the title: Good Night Mr Tom – SWAG Bag.

Writing:

In your jotters, edit the short story you created yesterday, making sure you have included the features from the Year 5 writing success criteria, particularly those which you gave yourself as a target on the last piece of pobble writing you did for home learning.

Topic:

Continue with your ‘Settlers and Settlements Project’.   Remember you can choose how much of this you would like to do today, as you have two weeks to complete it.
